Indepth on the Colossi's name meaning.

The Minotaur, meaning "Bull of Minos" in Greek, was a half man- half bull creature, born from King Minos' wife affiar with a bull. It dewlt in a labyrinth built for King Minos of Crete. The Minotaur was eventually killed by Theseus.
